Well lets see.... what could I tell you about us here at Desert Lily Arabians. Were a small breeding farm in Southern Ohio. We currently have three horses.Princess Alishaba, Sousanna KA, and our young colt Tayyeb Al Nafs. We believe Quality is more important than Quantity. Especially when it comes to horses. Beauty without function is useless. We strive to make the best breeding decisions possible. This gives the expected foal a better chance at a good future full of potential. As well as improving the arabian breed as a whole. We believe the arabian breed to be one of the best you can have. It truly is a versitile breed. Arabians are used in multiple disciplines. Such as Halter, Dressage, Reining, Racing, Endurance, Competitive Trail, and many more. If it can be done with horses the arabian can do it. What we love the most about our arabians is their wonderful temperament and personalities. They are incredibly intelligent and sensitive to the people in their lives.
When we let the arabian horse into our lives, we were not only blessed with a beautiful, gentle, and intelligent animal. We were introduced to a rich culture and heritage. One we never realised was there, but one we have developed a great love and passion for. We feel honoured to have these horses in our lives. To be able to surround ourselves with greatness usually reserved for Sheikhs, Pharoahs, Kings, and Queens. The true gift of the arabian is not its beauty, or how much its worth. It's in the way the arabian horse enriches our lives. They bring us joy, happiness, love, friendship, and companionship. Arabians are brave and courageous. This is inherited from their ancestors who were mounts for nomadic bedouin tribes. When going into battle the arabian horse and her master were true partners. Often a horse would stand and defend their fallen master rather than flee to safety. Such was the strength of the bond between an arabian and their master. If you noticed I said her when describing an arabian going into battle. The reason is because it was primarily mares that were used as war mounts. Mares were prized beyond all else to the bedouins. The bedouins treasured their arabians, and treated them as members of their family. Often bringing them into their tent at night to keep them warm. This is a large part of why the arabian has such a friendly and people oriented disposition. When was the last time you brought a horse into your living room?
I know we pretty much described qualities of the arabian horse we love instead of really describing us. However it would be impossible to describe us without understanding what the arabian horse means to us. As well as the qualities we prize in these amazing creatures. When breeding our horses we are looking to preserve these qualities, and make sure that these wonderful horses are around for generations to come. We treat all of our horses with kindness and understanding. We do our best to keep our horses as naturally as possible. Our horse have bare feet. We aren't big on clipping and we usually have 24hr turnout. Exceptions would be expectant mothers or bad weather. We feed a wonderfull grass hay mix with alphalpha and timothy. We also feed grain twice a day. Currently we feed Nutrena Safe Choice. Its a versatile feed that can be use in all stages of life. We also add any neccesarry supplements to feed so everyone is at their best. If you ever have any questions for us please feel free to contact us. We also welcome visits.
